Frontiers: God’s Directives for Point Harbor

Admit it—it’s easy to get distracted in church. From the crying baby on the third row to the teenager covertly texting two rows in front of you to the old guy snoring somewhere behind you, distractions in church are a pretty common occurrence.

It’s bad, though, when the church itself is distracted—pulled away from its key mission objectives by stuff that may be good, but not our mission.

What is our mission? What is the mission of Point Harbor Church? And, further, what are the specific frontiers that Jesus has called us to carry out those mission-objectives in?

2 Corinthians 10:13-16 NLT

13 We will not boast about things done outside our area of authority. We will boast only about what has happened within the boundaries (frontiers) of the work God has given us, which includes our working with you…

15 Nor do we boast and claim credit for the work someone else has done. Instead, we hope that your faith will grow so that the boundaries of our work among you will be extended. 16 Then we will be able to go and preach the Good News in other places far beyond you, where no one else is working. Then there will be no question of our boasting about work done in someone else’s territory.

Over the next few weeks—in this series—we will be discovering the exciting current and new frontiers that God is calling us (Point Harbor) to! And you’ll be jazzed (if you have the heart of God and the mind of Christ).

Ephesians 2:10 MSG ..we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.

You and I were save for a purpose.

(Not just so we could go to heaven when we die!)

And God’s purpose-fulfilling mission center

is the local church.
